Lets look at the origins of the war and where the conflict is today.. ( 5 minute documentary ) ________ Background to War The war in Afghanistan, ongoing from 2015, refers to the conflict between the afghan military and the islamic extremists. The War officially began a year after US Led forces largely withdrew from the country in 2014. This left the Afghan government and military in charge of security responsibility in the country in the midst of growing Taliban and extremist violence. Notably Nato forces numbering in the tens of thousands remain in the country following a bilateral agreement signed between the afghan government and Nato, this includes some 10 thousand Americans. The background for the current war is directly linked to failed US policy since the US invaded in 2001 and how corruption and mismanagement by US forces led to an ineffective Afghan government and the growth of extremism in many provinces. But we will examine this in a later video, so please like and subscribe to hear more on that. The source for the current war can be tracked back to 2014, when a string of events led to a Taliban resurgence. In Pakistan, efforts by the military to dislodge terrorist organisation in wazirison province led to many Uzbek, Arab and Pakistani militants entering Afghanistan and swelling the Taliban ranks. the withdrawing BY US forces meant that the Taliban were no longer being attacked on a constant basis in the outer provinces of Afghanistan. These two aspects along with a lack of international interest and an ineffective afghan government have led the Taliban growth in strength. These weaknesses have also allowed ISIS to enter into Afghanistan establishing a branch and recruiting fighters since 2015.

"The Events of Election 2012" is a series a spoken word pieces by Mike Varley covering the 2012 presidential campaign: the events, the issues and the race's major players. A new piece every week on Youtube and MikeVarley.com "On Afghanistan" The universe is a generous space. It allows for all kind of mistakes to become victories and all types of successes to end in disasters. The understood element here is time. How it flows without meaning down the conveyor belt as we try desperately to inspect the contents that roll by. Sometimes a box falls off that's too hard to lift. And those are the one's that haunt you, because it's either us or them. Either the box is there when we stop to die or we ignore the assembly and give it the effort to lift it back up on the line. And it happens on the level individual and national. Afghanistan has set on the shop floor so long no one bothers to touch it. The packing slip is taped to the box but no one's coming back to return it. A war I didn't start, a war that isn't mine. That's how it seems when you've spent eleven years pretending your country doesn't bleed. As youths in this culture, we were forced to adopt irony to protect us from the real. It's so tiring to practice constant insincerity, but I'm trying my best to avoid it. I was seventeen in 2001 when the war in Afghanistan began. That Sunday in October I volunteered at the nursing home, now well-worn surroundings I was just starting to learn. The big TV at the end of the rec room, novel back then in its size, showed tanks storming through deserts in a show of control and composure. The image was too enormous for my teenage mind, and I went back to the room where they were playing bingo. In 2004, I pleasured in the theory of anarchy and excused myself from Presidential fights, ignoring the down-ticket confusion and enjoying my right not to care in a state deep blue and decided. The wars were a cancer and I was too young to abide it. 2008 brought the first chance in my life to dream as a citizen. It felt good to be reminded of the enduring promise this nation has kept with itself for self-improvement. Yet even in those days when Iraq was promised closure, Afghanistan endured, the logic of justice too strong by comparison. Bad is bad, until that bad is paired with something worse. Now in twenty-twelve, we await the ending with closed eyes and tattered trust, ignoring the news as best we can and praying we can leave with our dignity intact. The only way to lift it is with reality and humility. Light as a feather, stiff as a board. A million single fingers lifting all at once, back on the belt as we wave good-bye. The sun-bleached silhouette it left on the shop walls will not be leaving soon. So frame the stain as a lasting memorial to let us remember while relieving our minds.

I get a little commission for every purchase you make ) Afghanistan '11 is the sequel to the highly praised and innovative Vietnam '65. It enhances and builds on it: Afghanistan '11 changes the paradigm of wargaming and manages to bring Counter-Insurgency and guerrilla warfare to your screen, properly represented thanks to a revolutionary gameplay formula! The year is 2011, you are commanding the US army operations in Afghanistan. But contrary to the previous generations of military officers in your family, killing the enemy is only a secondary mission. Most of your efforts and resources are spent elsewhere trying to grab the Hearts & Minds of the local population. Providing security to the civilians, persuading the local villagers to reject the Taliban and isolating Militia leaders is your main focus. Counter-Insurgency will have better results in the long run than conventional tactics but a simple incident during a routine patrol can ruin your relationship with the locals and damage your image in the Western newspapers. The Afghanistan terrain offers a very good cover to the rebels who can easily hide in the mountains and natural caves. Patience and good use of technology can give you the decisive advantage in this merciless game of hide and seek. When you spot an enemy unit or an opium plantation with a drone, you call in air support or artillery to eliminate the target immediately: speed will be crucial!. But having the air supremacy is not enough to win the war against the insurgents. IEDs, rocket launchers and sneaky ambushes are common threats for your ground units and helicopters. Casualties weaken the morale and the overall support from the folks back home in the USA, so make sure to keep your men safe and well supplied, and victory may well be yours...Strategy and Real Time Strategy Games gameplay you may like: ►Strategy Games Gameplay: http://bit.ly/Strategy-Gameplay ►Real Time Strategy Games Gameplay: http://bit.ly/RTS-Gameplay ■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬«§»▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■ FACEBOOK! ► http://bit.ly/SergiuHellDragoon WEBSITE! ► http://bit.ly/SergiuhellDragoonHQ Google+ ► http://bit.ly/H2Gvli TWITTER! ► http://bit.ly/SergiuHellDragoonHQ Buy Mighty T-Shirts! ► http://bit.ly/Mighty-T-Shirts Buy Mighty Games! ► http://bit.ly/SergiuG2A ■▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬«§»▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬■ Thank you for watching and make sure to join the fun!
